Following God’s Plan To Crush Your Goals

Many Christians, including myself, have been stuck between a rock and a hard place. We have been told or have heard that pursuing goals in business or money, as like to say it— the purpose without profitability in order to achieve success goes against Christian beliefs and counteracts what God has in store for us. However, scriptures encourage us to actually pursue our goals and achieve success.

For example, here some scriptures you can turn to when you are doubting if you should go after your goals:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request.”

1 Chronicles 4:10

In the first passage under Jeremiah, it’s clear that God tells us he has a plan for us. God said his plans are for welfare and not for evil. With this, we should believe that his plans for us are nothing short of wonderful and amazing.

The Bible doesn’t sugar coat the process and shield us from struggle but rather in Romans 8:28 it tells us that all things work together for our good and in Matthew 6:33 if we seek first the kingdom of God, these things will be added to unto us. So yes! The Bible says that these plans are for our success and happiness.

His plan for you has been planted in your heart. It is up to you to look for it. Here are some strategies to discover, plan and follow God’s plan for your heart. Look for His plans intently and prayerfully.

Strategies To Discover Your Purpose and God’s Plan Planted In Your Heart

1. Ask yourself: What is my Passion?

Your passion holds the dreams which God planted in your heart. Follow your passion.

2. Ask yourself: Are you pushing God’s plan away?

Is there something niggling in the back of your mind you are trying to avoid? Bring it to the forefront. Look at it clearly. This may contain God’s plan for you that your ego wants to avoid. Your ego is that part of you that wants your will, not God’s.

3. Ask yourself: What then?

With this question, you will ask yourself what happens next after you achieve your goal. Keep asking “what then” until it’s revealed. As believers we can struggle with the wait clarity until we have that deep a-ha experience that says, “That’s it. That’s the ultimate plan for my life.”

The craziest part of it all is that when He does reveal it, you have no clue how you’re going to do it but that’s all a part of His plan. He wants you to lean on Him and he will get the glory!

Trusting God’s Promise

Going back to the passages I mentioned above, know that God’s plans will not be revealed to you entirely. You will have to trust Him when he lays out the plan one piece at a time. You have to be faithful beyond the fear and trust the process. Ultimately God will unfold the entire plan He has for you.

If God did give you his plans all at once, you might get scared if you discovered God wanted you to begin a world-wide coaching business that would require writing three books a year for the next ten year, managing a staff of 100 people, and others being jealous of you or speaking untruths about you.

Discovering God’s plans for you will not be a straight line. This is especially true when you interject your own will. His plans might seem scattered and your path may meander about, but God re-writes the path and you will be set to follow that path again.

The key to unveiling God’s plans is to trust Him that he has everything in hand, even when you can’t see more than 10 feet in front of you.

The Prayer Of Jabez

Once you trust God with his plans and you found in your heart the direction you are going, even if you only know the first step, let God know that YOU ARE READY.

The story of Jabez has so many principles you can relate to business. Here are some powerful prayers you could pray over yourself and your business:

1. Jabez asked God to “bless me and enlarge my territory.” You can ask God to:

  • Bless you with the wisdom, knowledge, and resources needed to accomplish His plan for you.
  • Bless your business, so it expands in every way according to God’s will for you.

Pray to God that He helps you get the skills, the knowledge, the talent, the resources, and the like in order to succeed in His plan and that He uses you as an instrument to help other people.

2. Then Jabez requested, “Let your hand be with me…”

  • Ask God to guide you and direct you, to inspire you, and let you know each succeeding step.
  • Tell God that you’ll listen to His messages to you. Stay in communication with God through prayer.

God listens every time. So if you ask for guidance to further His plans for you, he will assist and guide you. You just have to listen carefully with your heart and your mind to His messages.

3. Lastly, Jabez asked, “…keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.”

  • Ask for God’s protection in every area of your life – for you, your family, and your business.
  • Implied in your request is that your actions will be according to God’s word.

God will never forsake us. Trust in Him and let Him live through you.

4. Then, you’re told that God granted his request.

  • God promised through Jeremiah that He has plans for you: “…plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

I hope that you were able to understand more about how following God’s plans for you will help you crush your goals and succeed. Live God’s plans for you and always ask for guidance. Whatever goals you’ve set for yourself are according to His plan. Remember, your goals are God’s goals for you. Crush these goals and all your future ones as well!
